아일랜드를 대표하는 포크록계의 거성 Van Morrison의 2006년도 신작 [Pay The Devil]의 UK반!!! 전작인 [Magic Time](2004)의 성공으로 다시금 네오컨츄리와 포크록을 접목시킨 미국인이 아닌 아아일랜드 싱어송라이터로 회춘하고 있는 Van Morrison의 이번 앨범은 Ray Charles의 62년도 작[Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music]를 본보기로 삼아 Curley Williams의 "Half as Much," Art Harris/Fred Jay의 "What Am I Livin' For," Hank Williams의 "Your Cheatin' Heart"등의 고전과 자신의 자작곡을 모아 세련된 컨템포러리 컨츄리의 방향을 제시하고 있다.
