{ EXTRAINFO }
Sceptically criticized in his early years for his tremendously innovative style which was simply way ahead of its time, Thelonious Monk was undisputedly acclaimed in the Sixties, when his vision of jazz suited much better the stylish (r)evolution in art, music, literature and cinema of that period. The Prophet is an album that clearly marks Monk's ability to dissect, turn upside down, reinvent and serve on a silver platter practically every single jazz standard.
This album, originally released in 1968, gives the above mentioned treatment to classics like "Round Midnight", and "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" among others.
